Gentle. Caring. Joyful. Committed. Open.
That’s Donalda in a nutshell. She has a natural ability of making everyone around her feel comfortable. There is nothing more important to her than creating a safe and caring environment to support each client through their journey.
While training for her Masters Degree in Social Work, studying in Solution Focused Therapy, Donalda learned the most important trait for a counsellor is making a connection with her clients. This connection helps her clients know and believe that they have the ability to work through their issues.
Donalda is a lifelong learner and brings this curiosity, knowledge and experience to her counselling work with individuals, couples and groups. She is a counsellor who believes that the only way to solve an issue is by leaning in and gently addressing where a client is feeling stuck or troubled and working through their feelings.
Donalda has her BSW, MSW and is registered with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Work (SASW). She has a strong understanding of Disability and has been active in the Disability Movement for decades. She is the founder of the REALM Foundation. Combining her extensive experience with Disability and her gentle, solution focused approach to counselling, has made Donalda one of the few people
specializing in Disability Counselling.
Most recently, Donalda became a Daring Way™ Certified Practitioner and will undergo training in Brené Brown’s most recent book, Rising Strong™. This work is based on the research of Brené Brown, whose work on vulnerability, courage, shame and worthiness completely aligns with Donalda’s philosophies and desire to live a wholehearted life.
She has training in Suicide Prevention, Somatic Experiencing, Focusing Therapy, Gentle Teaching and is a graduate of Leadership Regina 2007. Donalda strongly believes in the Mind, Spirit, Body relationship. She is a trained yoga instructor and incorporates yoga, meditation and spiritual transformation into her counselling practice and daily life.
